Situated on the banks of the Garonne in Aquitaine, south-west France, is the ancient fortified town of La Reole founded in 977. Amongst its treasures is the oldest remaining Town Hall in France, dating to the years between 1157 to 1199. It was built on the request of Richard the Lion Heart, who’s mother was Eleanor of Aquitaine.
